Before 2014 i used to write blogs on some issues, but post the huge victory in 2014 i have stopped with a firm belief that we will now see the much needed change in the country. And rightly so we did many changes in the country. The level of corruption has come down, India is now back in the international stage as a Global player. Our infrastructure is improving at a rapid pace. Subsidies are now better organised & there by saving crores of tax payers money. By making people stake holders in how subsidies must be run we set a great example in LPG gas by giving up subsidy so that BPL families can have access to cooking gas. Electricity reaching to those villages which lived in darkness even after seven decades of Independence. Many more such examples which have made difference to crores of peoples lives.
But while doing all these, the average supporter of Narendra Modi seem to be feeling left out. In the last few months there seem to lot of unhappiness among the core & average supporters are feeling dejected. What can be the reasons for the supporters to feel let down when so many good things have been done by the Modi government.
In the run up to the 2014 polls the message from Modi was quite clear, he was here to give a no nonsense administration & change the way the government functions. A lot of corruption issues have been raised during the 2014 campaign but post forming the government not even one big scamster has been indicted. The performance of some ministries like the HRD, Law Ministry etc has been pathetic to say the least. The shoddy implementation of demonetization & GST which have been the biggest moves of this government have led to lot of dissatisfaction among the supporters. These again are just a few examples.
Usually a party that comes to power with such huge mandate & with such an aggressive messaging should not be faltering at all. But the general sense one gets on social media & in general is a sense of disappointment amongst the cadres / supporters. Now this happening for a government headed by none other than Narendra Modi, the most popular politician of today is a bit surprising & shocking. There seems to be genuine disconnect between expectations ( raised by high voltage 2013-14 campaign) and what has been delivered / envisioned till date by his government. One of the biggest flaws of this Govt has been the way it has communicated to its support base as well as country in general has been very very poor. To add salt to the wounds is the behavior of some the ministers, MP's, MLA's & the CM's of BJP.
Electoral gains are important for any party to sustain & implement its ideology. Personally i feel this govt & the party have been failing this aspect to strike a balance. Too many unworthy / non ideological folks have been given preference over dedicated Karyakartas. Some of the Minority appeasement programmes (in spite of the Modi’s mantra of “Justice for all & appeasement to none”) taken up by CM's, Ministers of both state & central govts have been shocking to say the least. This is where the "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas " is taking a beating. While this blogger still believes "Sabka Vikas" is happening, Its the "Sabka Saath" that is hurting. The average supporter / core voter seem to be neglected / taken for granted in "Sabka Saath" & that is not a good sign.
The Onus per me lies with Amit Shah now. While Narendra Modi is doing a good job with "Sabka Vikas" he should look at "Sabka (core supporters) Saath" seriously.
